It was a big weekend for soccer fans — but not just those watching Portugal beat France in the European Championships. On Saturday, a non-traditional tournament was taking place on the fields of Pier 5 at Brooklyn Bridge Park in Williamsburg: the 14th annual Adidas Fanatic game. A community of cool-kid fashion brands, retailers, hotels and restaurants came together to compete against one another in the all-day event, with a total of 24 teams culled from New York, Los Angeles, Tokyo, London and Berlin participating. They included Acne Studios — whose team boasted models Binx Walton and Jacquelyn Jablonski — as well as Opening Ceremony, Billionaire Boys Club, The Smile, Ace Hotel, Miss Lily’s, Kith, Kinfolk, Wythe Hotel and Know Wave. Each team wore its own custom-designed uniforms.
As for the fashion looks off the field: T-shirts, denim and sneakers prevailed, and sporty, colorful bomber jackets came in handy, considering the overcast skies and windchill factor from the East River. A few model cheerleaders — such as Anna Ewers and Hanne Gaby — were spotted egging on the teams. Other spectators enjoyed live DJs, free BBQ and ice cream cones from Mister Softee.
